THE ELIXIR OF LOVE & RIGOLETTO / Scottish Opera Pop-up Opera

Scottish Opera’s Pop-up Opera returns with two new shows: A Little Bit of Rigoletto and A Litle Bit of The Elixir of Love. These miniaturisations of Verdi’s and Donizetti’s timeless classics, told with two singers, a narrator, instrumentalists, and a beautiful set of illustrations, offer the best of opera in just 30 minutes. A Little Bit of Rigoletto is a thrilling tale of revenge gone wrong: a jester tries to get revenge on his boss, the Duke, but his innocent daughter gets caught in the middle of the intrigue. A Little Bit of Rigoletto is opera at its most dramatic! On the sunnier side, A Little Bit of The Elixir of Love follows a country boy who fears losing his girlfriend to a swaggering sergeant – perhaps this love potion offered by an unscrupulous travelling salesman might save the day? Not even some drunken delusions and comic misunderstandings can prevent this happily ever after. With the chance to see both shows back to back, experience the best of opera on a miniature scale this summer.
